About TCPA

The Congress is being supported and co-organised by the TCPA (The Town and Country Planning Association).

Founded by Sir Ebenezer Howard in 1899 to promote the idea of the Garden City, the TCPA is Britain’s oldest charity concerned with planning and the built environment. The TCPA prides itself on leading-edge radical thinking and problem-solving, and has a pivotal role in the planning world. With over 1000 members, it occupies a unique position, drawing support from organisations and individuals in the public, private and voluntary sectors concerned with sustainable development, equity and social justice.

The TCPA also publishes the well respected ‘Town and Country Planning Journal’. Having started life together as the ‘Garden Cities and Town Planning Association’, the TCPA and the IFHP share an historic and powerful legacy, stretching back to the origins of the garden city movement, in promoting more and better housing and places, with social justice and beauty at their heart.
